We at CCHRI believe that headlight restoration is a way to provide a skill to Veterans and citizens looking to earn extra money initially but ultimately build their own business.
Headlight restoration or plastic headlight restoration is the process of refinishing aged headlamp lenses that have become discolored or dull due to oxidation. This is primarily caused by UV light and other environmental factors such as road debris impact (stones, sand, etc.) rain, and exposure to caustic chemicals. Over time the protective hard coat breaks down with UV degradation and wear from abrasion, etc. The effectiveness of the headlight in terms of light output measured in lux can be significantly reduced. This condition which results in hazy and discolored lenses is known for causing reduced nighttime visibility for drivers as the condition becomes worse. It is possible for cloudy and hazy headlights to be restored to a like-new condition and represents a far more economical alternative than replacing the lens.
Additionally, headlight restoration extends the usable life of the headlight, can be repeated if necessary, and is considered more “environmentally friendly” than disposal of the headlights lens or headlamp assembly.
We aim to provide veterans a way to work at their own pace regardless of age and or disability, provide persons with a less than perfect criminal background with positive and legitimate employment, and provide a hand-up to those who are often overlooked, forgotten, or judged unfavorably by society.
We can help to keep veterans active, productive, and self-reliant. We can give every person interested an opportunity to become productive in, and possibly change, their outlook on their future. We want to open these classes to everyone to learn a skill and introduce
entrepreneurial opportunities and endeavors to them.
Our main goal is to help veterans and convicted felons. In our research, we have discovered that these two groups of individuals experience the most setbacks when trying to move forward in the next phase of their lives. Therefore, these two groups have become our core focus.
SOME REASONS VETERANS HAVE A HARD TIME FINDING EMPLOYMENT
● “I don't have time to train her…”
● “Liked him on paper but didn't interview very well...”
● “His/her skills and experience just don't translate well for this role…”
● “Great guy but just not a good fit for my role…”
● “I’m really concerned about post-traumatic stress…”
● “I need someone to hit the ground running…”
● “I’m getting a ton of pressure to hit my numbers and stay in budget…”
● “Has everything else, but doesn’t have exact industry experience I’m looking for…”
● “Don’t understand my business...I need someone who is flexible…”
REASONS COMPANIES DON’T HIRE FELONS
● Believe they are dishonest and likely to commit a crime on the job.
● Fear the public finding out they hire felons damaging the company’s reputation.
● To protect their company from negativity and potential loss of business.
